Our Practices
All Natural & Pure
Schoolyard Sugarbush produces Certified Organic Maple syrup and is also NY Grown and Certified! Our family and production team realize the importance of producing an all-natural organic sweetener straight from our trees to your table! Our trees produce the sap which we then collect, filter, concentrate, and boil in order to make the sweet thick natural sweetener we all love and know as Pure Maple Syrup.
The trees and the weather have much to do with the flavor and color of maple syrup but how we process the sap can have an impact on its flavor and color! We work diligently to move the sap from the trees, boil, filter, and vacuum seal in stainless drums the same day it comes from the tree!
We use reverse osmosis to cut down on fossil fuel dependency. We source green energy at each opportunity we have. We use a steam evaporator for boiling of the sap as it is the most efficient method on the market today. We use technology-integrated equipment and woods vacuum data collection in order to save labor. We are confident you will love the flavor of each jar of maple syrup you purchase!
We implement the following practices to keep our products pristine:
-
Conservative tree tapping
-
Sanitization of tubing and tap hole each year,
-
Diverse forest species to prevent deforestation
-
Rainfall and groundwater direction to prevent erosion potential as water runs off the steep hillsides.
-
Horticultural to keep the forest healthy

Sap flowing into one of our vacuum sap lifters which lifts sap up and over a roadway!
This video shows the sap flow into one of the releasers in our Newfield Sugarhouse! There are approximately 15,000 taps running into this releaser!
